The Fredric Effects Verzerrer is a highly tweakable recreation of East Germany's only distortion pedal, the Bohm Trickverzerrer. This Bohm Trickverzerrer clone uses original, old stock transistors and diodes.

Originally produced in the 1960s and 70s, the Bohm Trickverzerrer is a somewhat abrasive and characterful distortion pedal, which lacked some practicality. It used 5-pin DIN connectors, had a plastic enclosure, and had trim pots that had to be adjusted with a screwdriver!

The Fredric Effects Verzerrer comes in a metal rectangular wedge enclosure, uses original components, and can be considered and exact clone recreation of the circuit, but also adds practicality. It features these trim pots externalized, an input gain control, and a series of DIP switches inside the pedal on the circuit board, for further adjustment if desired (see below for details).

Controls:

Tone - Controls the treble/bass response of the effect.
Volume - Controls the output volume.
Input Level - Attenuates the signal level going into the effect. Adjust this for hotter guitar pickups.
Intensity - The gain of the circuit.
Bias - This changes the sustain of the effect. Dial it back for gated, staccato sound. About halfway up is "correct".

Bank of DIP Switches inside the pedal on the circuit board are as follows:
NR1, NR2 - Noise reduction. Switch these on (up position) to decrease the hiss and fizz of the note decay.
Limit Res - The volume limiting resistor of the original Trickverzerrer.
Boost Off - This should be ON if the volume boost circuit isn't required.
Boost On x2 - Both of these should be ON to engage the volume boost.

Power Sources (sold separately):
This guitar pedal is powered by a 9v, center-negative jack (like Boss, and most all other pedals use). Current draw is 7ma. Or, it can use a standard 9 volt battery.
